Makena Estate is a 34 acre family farm ran by Japheth Mwaura. It’s a beautiful landscape on the slopes of Mt. Kenya in Central Province, Kirinyaga County. With an altitude of 1500-1750m, combined with rich, red volcanic soils, it’s the ultimate climate for coffee growing. Only the ripest of red cherries make the cut, hand-picked with care. Then they are sent off to the wet mill on the same day.
Fresh water is sourced from the nearby Nyamindi river. The cycle continues with sun drying on African raised beds
